Vox Populi
Dear Dec,
Student Council, Honor, and Judiciary elections were held this week. I think that's when it was. I read about it in the CD and saw the pamphlet. I saw the silly "vote for..." signs everywhere.
But I was surprised that I didn't see anything about it in the Dec. True, the elections aren't as exciting as in years past Howard Foard is running virtually unopposed for President, for example but there were still plenty of issues to address, and more than one paper's way of addressing them. I had hoped that the Dec would tell me more about the candidates and the choices facing the university.
So I look forward, sirs and madams, to increased coverage in the future. Otherwise, I may be forced not to vote next year.
Stick that in your pipe and smoke it,
Greg Cashman
Dear Dec,
I noticed that you were reduced to printing a letter from Kate Zimmerman, your former Executive Editor, last week. That strikes me as particularly amateurish from a magazine with a circulation of over 4,000. Don't you get enough responses to some of the shit you print to fill this column and then some?
To be fair, however, it's not your fault. I'm sure that many readers feel that they don't have the time or the inclination to write a letter. So let me take this opportunity to tell all those opinionated Dec readers (and I know they exist) to make time. Every time an article in this paper is stupid enough to demand a response, you need to write in to say "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!"
Even, I guess, if you're mad as hell about something as silly as Titanic.
Sascha
