About the Whethermen

Performances

Shows

The Whethermen perform four full-length shows each school year -- two during Fall Semester, and two during Spring Semester. These shows are our main performance focus, comprised of both short-form games and longform improvisation.

Festivals

Every year, the Whethermen participate at the N.C. Comedy Arts Festival (formerly the Dirty South Improv Festival.) Each February, we travel to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to perform, to watch shows by other college and professional troupes, and to take workshops taught by some of the country's best improvisers.

In the past, we have also participated in the Charlottesville Comedy Festival, performed at mini-festivals at the University of Maryland (with Erasable, Inc.) and James Madison University (with New and Improv'd), and hosted groups like Princeton's Quipfire at UVA.

Gigs

Throughout the year, we perform at various gigs on-Grounds and in the Charlottesville community. These performances range from short 10-15 minute improv sets, to 30- to 60-minute improv shows, to sketch comedy, to event hosting ... pretty much anything! In the past, our gigs have included: opening sets for hypnotist Tom Deluca, AVP, the Hullabahoos, and other a cappella groups, and Pablo Francisco; performing at UPC's Welcome Week and Tuttle Lounge improv shows; emcee-ing the U-Dems Bachelor Auction; and performing sets at benefits/events such as Relay 4 Life, Pancakes for Parkinson's, Dance Marathon ...
