Some say Chivalry is dead, but we live it every day. Join us to discover how our ancestors lived in earlier times as we build, dance, feast, fight, and strive to be Lords and Ladies, the nobility of our Society. And we have a great time doing it! Join us!

If anything about knights, cavaliers, vikings, kings and queens, lords and ladies interests you, then the SCA is the place for you. Someone in our Society studies and practices almost anything you can imagine people doing in the middle ages. You can experience medieval life, not just study it:

An Overview of Students for Creative Anachronism

Don't Just Study the Past-Live It!

The central theme of the SCA is that we are a participatory group. When we want to understand how people fought in medival wars, we put on our armor. When we want insight into the courts of kings and queens, we dance and feast. We show what we have learned to each other and to the public.

The SCA's members are volunteers. No one gets paid for teaching new people-meeting and teaching new people is a big part of the fun!

Above and beyond the crafts and arts we practice, the members of the Society strive to create an atmosphere of nobility and gentility in dealing with each other. We value chivalry and courtesy, and expect each of our members to behave as good and noble folk. Thus our organization is more than a hobby, more than people simply making things the way medieval folk do. Our Society is an ongoing attempt to make just that: a society of nobility that is open to everyone.

Soggy Dells, Practice Tonight at the Stadium

Bad weather and cold days means the ground at the Dells is going to be a mess today. So even though the skies are clear and the temps are cooperating, we're going to practice at the lower level of the Scott Stadium Parking Garage.

There's one new guy coming out tonight who hasn't fought in many years, but has some previous experience.

I'm nursing a few minor strains that I don't want to become major ones, so won't be armoring, but I will be instructing and taking pictures.

Practice at the Stadium Tonight

Since we got some pretty heavy rain this morning, footing at the Dells will be a mess.

So we're at the lower level of the Scott Stadium parking garage again, starting at 5:45. That means it's super convenient for Andrew, right, Andrew?

Please RSVP! I'm still sore from Tuesday practice in Richmond, but will armor up if people are interested. 5040804444_d419610158_b

Looks like no Ice Castle for me

Somehow, this afternoon I seem to have tweaked my left knee. Very odd, since I didn't DO anything to it. It just started aching and being a bit stiff.

So, unless I wake up with it magically feeling better tomorrow, no Ice Castle tournament for me. I have to admit though, I was not super-enthusiastic about going. Three hours away, no one else wanted to ride along/drive, and so on.

I'm definitely on for Ymir though! http://ymir.windmastershill.org/ And Thjora has nearly finished my new gambeson, so it will be the debut for all sorts of new gear! Mailcoat, gambeson, left vambrace, gorget and possibly some sort of new armor belt. My current one works under the mail, but is going to get all torn up if I wear it that way.

Rides are available to Ymir, though the feast is sold out. I'm staying over and having the feast, but Kelby is considering going and will be day tripping.
