Isenfir (our local group) hosted the spring Crown tournament where the next royalty of Atlantia are chosen. Brie & I were the only students able to make it to it largely because finals are currently happening. So below is my view on the day.
We got there quite early because I had volunteered to help at Troll (place where everyone checks in). It was an interesting experience seeing almost everyone in normal clothes and then seeing them again later once they were in garb.
I caught just a brief portion of the fighting but in that time I did get to see Sir Corby fight twice.
Most of my time was spent catching up with various folks and just taking everything in. The garb, the pagentry, a little arts & science display, and trying to remember peoples' names that I'm sure I've met before.
Court was held indoors (my guess is due to the rain which started soon thereafter). The beginning of court was a string of awards for folks in our shire for helping make the event a success. (Vivats to them!) Towards the end of court (to my best guess 4/5th of the way through), I got called into court. David was kind enough to escort up to their majesties. Valharic was the one who spoke for it (probably because I knelt in front of him). I was told I was joining the ranks of nobility which means that I was getting my Award of Arms (AoA) and can now be "Lady Nicolosa d'Isenfir". About half way through that, Arielle spoke up and reminded him that I was also to join the order of the Coral Branch which is an arts & sciences award. This was being awarded for teaching dance in Isenfir. I received a scroll and a small coral branch. I will post a picture in my actual LJ but not on the student site due to space concerns. It was a pretty neat experience and I would like to thank everyone for dancing and a special thanks to those who nominated me.
Brie & I also stayed for feast. It was quite delicious and very filling. I think almost every course had meat in it of some sort. By definition it was a good feast as well because the chicken came out hot. I was getting pretty tired by this point so I can't remember specifics but I do recall the favorite main item being the pork & onion soup and ending with the sweet cheese dessert.
All in all, it was a fun event and I'm glad I got to help out with it as well as spend time with good people.
