Parking
There is no parking in the Madison House lot during regular business hours Monday-Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. All spaces are reserved for Madison House staff and tenants. Car pools may gather at the top of the driveway while they wait for their volunteers. Visitors to Madison House may obtain a permit from Madison House staff and park in the parallel spot at the top of the driveway, returning the permit before they leave. Madison House has a parking policy for Program Directors after 5:00pm and on weekends.
Alternatives to Parking at Madison House
Daytime Parking
Limited meter parking is available in the lot at Culbreth Theater* (across the street from Madison House) from 7:30am to 5:00pm at a rate of $0.50 per hour, with a two-hour limit.
Evening and Weekend Parking
The Culbreth Theater lot* (across the street from Madison House) and the Peyton House lot (the white house next to Madison House) is open to anyone after 5:00pm and on weekends. In both the Culbreth and Peyton House lot, special events (plays, concerts, athletic events, etc.) parking may modify the availability of parking. Always check the signs at every entrance/space for exact restrictions.
The Culbreth Theater Garage
The Culbreth Theater lot has recently opened and spaces may be available in the evening
Bus
The bus stops at Beta Bridge. Click here to see the bus routes and schedules.
Bikes
Bikes can be locked in the Madison House bike rack to the side of the building.
Transportation
Madison House tries to organize car pools for volunteers who may not have transportation to their volunteer site. Volunteers who use their car to transport themslves and other volunteers to their sites can receive mileage reimbursement.
There are also bus services offered by the University Transit Service and Charlottesville Transit Service.
