Habitat for Humanity Store

What the store does?
The Habitat Store, a retail sales store, was established in May of 2003 to provide a self-sustaining funding source to HFHGC. We also seek to extend Habitat's mission by making home maintenance more affordable. A secondary, yet significant, benefit of the store is the recycling and reuse of surplus new and used building materials, thereby reducing the flow of materials in the waste stream.

How it works:
The Habitat Store supports Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville by selling new and salvaged building materials and home furnishings to the public at discount prices. All proceeds from the Habitat Store contribute to the construction of new Habitat homes locally.

What do volunteers do?
The store work is different from that of our other community partners. Rather than building, volunteers work in the store helping with tasks from cleaning to moving inventory to working the cash register. While this is different it is also a more flexible option that allows volunteers to remain involved on their own schedule if they cannot commit to a weekly shift.
