Mission

The Student Interpreter Service Initiative (SISI) was designed to serve the Hispanic patients in the U.Va. Health System and the Charlottesville community by addressing the need for Spanish-speaking interpreters.

Through competent and professional interpretation, trained volunteers interpret in a clinical setting to overcome the Spanish language barrier that exists in the health careworld. By providing these services, the SISI program facilitates communication between medical professionals and patients from diverse backgrounds.
