A training session is required.

Responsibilities

The volunteer can choose to work with Elementary, Middle or High School students. The tutoring takes place at the school, so the volunteer can work closely with the teacher to meet the needs of the student. The most important factor in tutoring is continuity. Since tutors and students spend a short time together each week, each tutoring session is extremely valuable to the student's progress. Also, the student relies on you as a source of motivation, and looks forward to your visits!

When?

The most important requirements of the program are regular weekly attendance (1 -2 hours) and a year-long commitment to the program. Program Directors arrange carpools so that everyone has a chance to tutor, regardless of their ability to drive to the schools. We greatly appreciate volunteers who are willing and able to drive carpools.
