Greetings!

Welcome to the Organization of Young Filipino Americans' website! We are here to heighten the awareness of Filipino and Filipino-American History within the University of Virginia, the Charlottesville community, and the Internet! Feel free to browse around for more information about our organization.

OYFA would like to extend its congratulations to Efren Penaflorida, who has been named CNN Hero of the Year.

Why did you want the position you currently hold?
  • To make a difference in OYFA, and learn more about Filipino history
If you could have any other position in OYFA at this very moment, what would it be and why?
  • Corresponding Secretary so OYFA general meetings could be held in cool/sketchy buildings like the basement of Thornton Hall.
What does it means to you to be Filipino?
  • To be half an hour late to everything, lumpia and pancit, the Rosary, and trips to Lolo and Lola's house
If you had three wishes, what would they be?
  1. I knew every day I was doing what I need to do to live up to the person God wants me to be in this life
  2. A wish I could give to you
  3. A portable piano that I could stick in my pocket and take it out whenever I wanted to play it
I graduated high school in 1987, 1992, and 2005. I refused to leave until they made me Prom King. I like to tape my thumbs to my hands to see what it would be like to be a dinosaur, and not only did I find Waldo, but we got ice cream afterwards
